Over the past few weeks, we have been asked a number of questions by smaller businesses about the grants that are currently available and how to access them. The list below details some of these grants with links to the relevant information pages.
Retail Business Rates Holiday
Some businesses will be eligible for a 1-year business rates holiday for all businesses in the retail, leisure, hospitality sectors from 1 April 2020.
To see who fits into these sectors please see the government's detailed guidance.
There is no need to contact your local authority as they will deal with these automatically.
Cash grants are being awarded for businesses in the retail, leisure and hospitality sectors for up to £25,000. This will apply to businesses with a rateable value of over £15,000 but less than £51,000.

Small Business Grants
Any businesses eligible for Small Business Rate Relief (SBRR) or Rural Rate Relief (RRR) can apply for a grant of £10,000 for ongoing business costs.

Hastings Borough Council has announced that if you are eligible, you will need to fill out an information form to apply for the grant. To find out more about this, please click here.

Artists, arts organisations and creative industry businesses
Arts Council England has launched an emergency funding package to offer individuals and organisations working in the cultural sector financial support during this crisis. They are appealing for organisations and people to tell them about the impact that COVID-19 is having on them so they can respond to it appropriately. You are encouraged to email Arts Council England to tell them the impact the coronavirus is having on you and your business.

Business Rates Holiday for Nurseries
Nurseries in England do not have to pay business rates for the 2020-21 tax year. For information click here
