Tax Advisor and Compliance
We are looking for someone to join the team in a role that will be varied in tax advice, compliance and planning. The role will include working over a multitude of taxes, but mainly IHT, CGT and income tax, for individuals and trusts. There will also exposure to payroll taxes and Stamp Duty Land Tax.
This role is for someone who can work closely with partners and the team on tax projects, and general tax matters, with some seniority for review and problem solving/answer finding for others.
Applicants do not need to be experts in all stated areas of tax, but confident in problem solving, research and identifying tax issues. Any experience of Lloyds Underwriters, Trusts, High Net Worth Private Clients or is welcome. The role will include training where needed.
The applicant will need to train and review the work of more junior members of staff at times, and work closely with the tax partners on client facing tax planning projects and advisory work.
Candidates will ideally be;
- ATT Qualified or CTA qualified
- Motivated and adaptive to work remotely
- Confident in written communication of tax planning, rules and implications to clients
We are a general practice firm, so the role will on occasion also include advice and work in relation to business clients, but the role is mainly Private Client focused. The role also includes tax compliance such as self-assessment tax returns, IHT returns, CGT returns etc.
The successful candidate role can either be office based entirely, or part office based part working from home, but attendance at the office will be required a minimum number of three days per week for a full time candidate.
The position is for our Tenterden office, but applicants who’s preferred location to work out of our Rye or Bexhill office will also be considered.
The role is open to applicants seeking a full-time position, or applicants seeking a part time role with a minimum equivalent of 80% working week.
If an applicant is invited for interview, this will initially be carried out via video call. Second interviews will ideally be in person at our offices.
Salary - £42,000 to £55,000 depending on experience.
Accounts Assistant
Due to continued growth, we are currently recruiting for an Accounts Assistant, to be based in our Tenterden office. You should be AAT part/qualified with a minimum of 3 years’ practice experience. This is a full-time position.
Salary depending on experience and includes company pension and private medical insurance
Main duties
- Preparation of sole trade, partnership and company accounts from client records, whether they are on an online package or in paper form, reviewed, as appropriate
- Preparation and submission of VAT returns, reviewed, as appropriate
- Preparation of tax computations, reviewed, as appropriate
- Preparation and submission of company tax returns, reviewed as appropriate
- Preparation of Personal Self Assessment Tax Return, with computations and schedules, reviewed as appropriate
- Assist with the planning of audits
- Testing during audits
- Completion of the smaller to medium sized audits

- Ability to work independently and with others
- Good Microsoft Office skills. Knowledge of IRIS would be beneficial but not required

Tax/Accounts Senior - Bexhill
Due to continued growth we are currently recruiting for a qualified ACA or ACCA seeking public practice career development for our expanding firm. This is a full time position.
We will consider a qualified AAT with a minimum of 5 years’ practice experience.
The role will include preparing accounts and tax computations and dealing with other tax and compliance issues, work on private client files and providing support and compliance services for a varied range of clients. The role will also include review of VAT returns and bookkeeping prepared by junior staff and clients, assisting as part of a team with workflow in the office, and some client contact.
The role is full time, based in the office three days a week, while work from home for two days, although this is optional. You should ensure you can commute to Bexhill, East Sussex.
Salary £25,000 to £42,000 depending on experience and includes company pension and private medical insurance
