One of the core beliefs of GMP is that it's the people behind the numbers who truly make a difference. Continuing our blog series introducing our team, we want to spotlight Abigail Page, who joined GMP in 2012.
A Busy and Exciting Life
Outside of work, Abigail's life is a balance of nurturing her children, staying active, dining out, and exploring her vast collection of cookbooks. The perfect day for Abigail involves cheering on her children at a rugby match, enjoying a long bike ride together, and then unwinding with a delightful meal or flipping through a cookbook, earmarking recipes with sticky tabs.
A Holistic Approach
Abigail is dedicated to becoming a trusted advisor for her clients. She understands the importance of confidentiality and trust, managing personal information, and familial circumstances with great care. Abigail works to build relationships not just with clients but also with IFAs and solicitors, ensuring that advice is well-rounded and considers all angles.
Dealing with a client after the death of a spouse or loved one highlights why GMP is built on people, not just numbers. In these moments, empathy and understanding are crucial, especially when assisting someone who may not have been closely involved in the financial aspects of their relationship.
Accountancy is Not Boring
Abigail is eager to debunk the notion that accountancy is dull. Specialising in tax, she finds the field to be constantly evolving, significantly influencing how families and relationships function. Staying abreast of the latest changes and updates is vital to providing the best advice.
A Love for Property
If Abigail could choose another career path, it would be in property. She has a keen interest in valuations, redevelopment, planning, and has a deep appreciation for architecture and design.
Dinner Guest
Given the chance, Abigail would opt to dine with Chef Keith Floyd. She imagines a dinner brimming with delectable dishes, fine wine, and engaging stories about the countries he's visited and the culinary experiences he's had. Floyd's cooking shows ignited Abigail's love for cooking, a passion that continues to this day.
Accountancy Changes
Abigail wishes for greater efficiency within HMRC. Delays from HMRC often cause hold-ups in tax cases she handles, an area where she sees significant room for improvement.
